Merriman Anderson Architects, a Dallas-based architecture and design firm, has opened an office in Fort Worth to better support the growing number of projects it has in the area.
“With our marquee set of existing clients, we are proud of our work and relationships in Fort Worth and are looking forward to increasing our presence in the area,” says Milton Anderson, president of Merriman Anderson.
Anderson said the company began working in Fort Worth about 12 years ago when they a project with Bell Helicopter on its new headquarters. Renovations on existing facilities followed along with a master plan strategy for the aircraft manufacturer.
“We talked about opening a Fort Worth office then, but never pulled the trigger,” he said. “And we’ve just continued to do more work there, so we finally said we need to be here.”
That work in Fort Worth continued with projects such as the AC Hotel by Marriott and the nearby Marriott’s The Sinclair, Autograph Collection hotel.
“We do new construction, such as the AC Hotel, but also adaptive reuse such as The Sinclair,” said Anderson. He estimates that about 15% of the company’s work is adaptive reuse.
The firm’s portfolio of work in Fort Worth, includes:
● One University — Mixed-use development with multifamily residences, retail, offices and an Autograph Collection by Marriott hotel. The project is being developed by Goldenrod Cos.
● U.S. Housing & Urban Development — Merriman Anderson provided tenant improvement services for the HUD office lease located in the Oil & Gas/Star-Telegram Building in downtown.
● WestBend South — Seven-story apartment complex south of the WestBend mixed-use development on University Drive near TCU.
● Evans and Rosedale — 7.5-acre mixed-use development with multifamily residences, single family residences and commercial space, a project that is looking to restart once the city chooses a developer.
“This expansion is evidence of our staff’s talent and our firm’s dedication to in-person collaboration and market presence. We are eager to bring MAA’s dedication to client service, design excellence, and a family-like culture to our new office in Fort Worth,” said Anderson.
The firm is not just finding new projects in Fort Worth, it is lining up new clients west and southwest of the city.
“This whole area is growing and we’re getting involved in several projects,” said Anderson.
Merriman Anderson worked with real estate firm JLL for a year and a half to find the new 3,000-square-foot location at 2421 W. Seventh St. in SO7.
Merriman Anderson has one other office in Texas, in Austin, and also offices in Cincinnati and Charlotte.
